  It's worth the long bumpy road to see the world's oldest living thing, the Ancient Bristlecone Pines. At 11,000 feet, you can feel the thin air. And stand in awe of these magnificent trees. They stood the test of time.

  So worth the drive. Plan on a minimum of 3 hours if you decide to take the dirt road from the visitor center. There are clearly marked signs and the road is in good condition. Bring food, water, and make sure you have a spare tire. There will be no cell service and no road side assistance.
