  Hands down, the best place to stay for enjoying the east-side Sierra Nevada mountains/Mammoth Pass. We were in Bishop, CA for bouldering and climbing; The Hostel lives and breathes rock-climbing & the outdoors. Has a 'college house' feel more-so than a hostel or B&B. THC (the Hostel California) host(s) were flexible, accommodating, and communicative; they provide lots of BONUS amenities, thanks to the transient nature of climbers/etc. from past guests' left-behind treasures (food, misc gear, you name it). Please note, CA has legalized a certain other 'THC,' and some earthy-types will part-take in this, near the vicinity of the Hostel. If you are strongly averse to 420 culture (while other guests probably will not be) keep this in mind.
